The CBCID police are conducting raids at the residences of supporters of former minister MR Vijayabaskar in Karur. The raids follow allegations related to the fraudulent registration of 22 acres of land, valued at approximately Rs. 100 crores.

Karur District Melakarur Sub-Registrar Mohammad Abdul Qader lodged a complaint with the Karur city police, calling for action against Raghu for using a fake certificate to register the deed and against those who threatened him. Similarly, Prakash from Vangal Kuppuchipalayam filed a complaint with the Karur police station and the SP office, alleging that AIADMK former minister MR Vijayabaskar and his supporters fraudulently registered the land deed by threatening his wife and daughter.

DGP Shankar Jiwal has since transferred the case to the CBCID. Consequently, the Karur city police handed over the relevant files and information to the CBCID. Fearing imminent arrest, MR Vijayabaskar has reportedly gone into hiding.

The CBCID is currently searching the homes of four individuals involved in the case, including Yuvraj, Selvaraj, Raghu, and Marappan, who are accused of registering the land with fake documents. Searches are underway at Yuvraj's house in Thalapatti and Selvaraj's house in Thottakurichi.

These raids coincide with the expected verdict on MR Vijayabaskar's interim anticipatory bail plea.
