The U.S Embassy and Fulbright Commission have identified Avinashilingam Institute for HomeScience and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore under the Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching to host Ms. Elysia J.Garcia, Teacher, Oak Terrace Elementary School, Highwood. IL, US for a period of 45 Days (9th July 2024 to 20th August 2024) for the proposal titled ‘Formulating a Unified Curricular Framework based on Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) for 3–6-year-old children’.
As a part of the programme, a 5- day workshop was inaugurated on 15th July. 
Around 20 domain - specific experts from the Department of Human Development, Education, Special Education and Physical Education of Avinashilingam Institute worked in collaboration with Ms.Elysia J. Garcia to formulate a DAP. 
The framework will focus on the developmental domain- specific areas like Physical, Motor, Cognitive, Language, Social and Emotional Development as well as discipline- specific content areas like early literacy and numeracy, science and technology, social studies, and creative arts.  This collaboration will result in significant policy recommendations.
