Bus stands and Railway stations get busier as Pongal festival nears

With the Pongal festival set to be celebrated on January 14, bus stands and railway stations in Coimbatore are witnessing a significant surge in crowds as people head to their hometowns.
Coimbatore, an industrial hub and home to numerous colleges, hosts a large population of workers and students from other districts and states. As the festival nears, residents are leaving the city to celebrate with their families, causing a rush at Coimbatore Central, North Coimbatore, and Podanur railway stations.
Similarly, Ukkadam, Gandhipuram, Singanallur, and Saibaba Colony bus stands are packed with travelers. The situation is exacerbated at Singanallur bus stand, where poor road infrastructure is leading to evening traffic congestion in the area.
Authorities are advising those traveling via Singanallur to plan their trips early to avoid delays and ensure a smoother journey during the festive rush.
