TN govt to organise book festival in Mettupalayam in August

The Tamil Nadu Science Movement and the Mettupalayam Book Festival Welcome Committee organised an Education Development Day special program in Mettupalayam in anticipation of the upcoming fourth Mettupalayam Book Festival. 
This festival, scheduled to run from August 23 to September 1, aims to promote reading and will feature various events throughout the coming month to encourage this habit.
The program was presided over by Mehribara Parveen, Chairman of the Book Festival Welcome Committee and Chairman of the City Council. 
Advocate Mastan, the Secretary of the Book Festival Reception Committee, welcomed the gathering. A Balasubramanian, Principal of the Forestry College and Research Station, spoke about the importance of book festivals. 
State General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Science Movement, Mohammad Badusha, and Dr. Maheswaran also addressed the purpose of the event.
District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated the ceremony by distributing book-saving piggy banks and presenting certificates of appreciation to teachers. 
In his speech, the District Collector praised the initiative, stating, "It is a welcome development that book festivals are held in towns like Mettupalayam, beyond the district capitals. We should encourage students to cultivate a reading habit and make the book festival a success."
During the event, the District Collector awarded prizes to 170 teachers for their excellent performance. 
He also presented appreciation gifts to the headmasters of successful schools and commended the volunteers of the Home Search Education 
Program. 
Additionally, 20,000 students will receive book-saving vouchers to purchase books, further promoting reading habits among students.
The Nanjaiah Lingammal Trust and the Mettupalayam, Karamadai Wiseman Society presented mementos at the event.
