As part of the rain and flood control measures, hundreds of workers across Chennai are continuously engaged in the task of immediately removing the accumulated rainwater from the roads.
Residents from low-lying areas have been moved to relief camps and provided food and shelter as heavy rain impacts Chennai. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, and other ministers are actively visiting water-logged areas and overseeing relief efforts. However, opposition parties, including AIADMK and AMMK, have criticized the Tamil Nadu government, claiming that Chennai is struggling after just one day of rain and that the relief work has been inadequate.
Amidst this background, Governor R.N Ravi, in a response to media persons, said, “Tamil Nadu Government is trying all possible ways to correct the effects of rain in Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department said that the Northeast Monsoon rains will be more than expected. The Tamil Nadu government has made necessary arrangements accordingly," he said.
While the opposition parties are severely criticizing the Tamil Nadu government, Governor R.N Ravi's praise is seen as significant.
