Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM), Coimbatore, organised a two-day national workshop titled “Decoding Circularity Together: Training of Trainers” on August 8 and 9. The event was held in collaboration with the Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad, and was presided over by the Director, Dr. P Alli Rani.
The workshop brought together delegates from the textile industry who showcased their innovative eco-friendly practices and proposed new projects aimed at promoting sustainability in the sector. Among the notable speakers were PR Sreedhar, Vice-President of KG Fabriks, Coimbatore, and Ramakrishnan Sabhari Girish from Sulochana Cotton Spinning Mills in Tirupur. They presented their comprehensive sustainable practices, which included dope-dyeing, reliance on renewable energy sources, and advanced waste management techniques designed to have zero negative impact on the environment.
A highlight of the event was the distribution of workshop kits, participation certificates, and smartphone holders, all made from cotton textile waste. These items were produced by Punarbhawa Sustainable Products, a company based in Karur, further emphasising the workshop's focus on circularity and sustainable practices in the textile industry.
