Nilgiris Collector M Aruna conducted a visit to the election control room and Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) centre at the district collector office to oversee the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Monday. During her visit, she examined the functionality of the surveillance cameras installed in the flying squad vehicle.
The public has been urged to report any malpractices or illegal activities to the election control room, which operates round the clock. District Election Officer and Collector Aruna closely monitored the movements of the flying squad from the election control room.
Addressing reporters, Aruna stated, "There are 4 state checkpoints and 12 district checkpoints in the Nilgiris district. Police personnel are using surveillance cameras to monitor the situation. A total of Rs. 21 lakhs have been seized until Sunday." She emphasised the importance of travellers carrying receipts for amounts exceeding Rs. 50,000 and highlighted the involvement of 9 monitoring committees in surveillance work across the district. Additionally, flying squad teams have been deployed.
Furthermore, Aruna stressed the timely removal of political posters and billboards, stating, "Within 48 hours, posters and billboards displaying political messages in public places should be removed, while any posters in private spaces should be removed within 72 hours." Several government officers also attended the event.
