Minister of Tourism Mr. K. Ramachandran and Minister of Health Mr. M. Subramanian personally inspected the construction work of Uthagai Government Medical College Hospital, which is being built at an estimate of Rs.461.18 crores in the district. 
The Health Minister said: separate 50-bed ward will be reserved for tribals in the hospital. The construction work of this 700-bed hospital is going on at a fast pace. The hospital is emerging as the largest state-of-the-art hospital in India with 700 beds in a hill town. The hospital has state-of-the-art MRI Scan, CT Scan, Digital X-Ray, Outpatient facility., inpatient building, central examination center, 12 state-of-the-art operation theaters with stainless steel walls, intensive care unit and cardiology unit, administrative building, laundry, and kitchen. District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Thanniru and other senior officials were present.
