Coimbatore Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati convened a meeting on July 22 to address the prevention of wild animal deaths caused by country-made bombs and electric fencing. The discussion, held at the collector's office, included representatives from the forest department, police department, revenue department, Tamil Nadu Electricity department, agricultural department, and other relevant agencies.

During the meeting, several strategies were discussed to mitigate these tragic incidents. Officers have been conducting inspections and ground audits to identify ways to prevent wild animal deaths. Efforts are being made to replace electric fences that are placed too close to the ground or lack a solid foundation. Additionally, the voltage of electricity passing through the fences on the borders of farmlands adjacent to forests is being verified to ensure it does not exceed permissible limits.

The district administration is also focusing on stopping the hunting of wild animals using country-made bombs. Present at the meeting were District Forest Officer Jeyaraj and Assistant Collector Gokila, among other officials.
