Under the leadership of Coimbatore District FSSAI Nominating Officer Dr M Tamilselvan, 9 teams comprising of 18 FSSAI officers conducted raid in 253 shops in the Coimbatore city and seized 89300 litres of expired soft drinks and food items from 23 shops and destroyed it.
The officials served notices to some shops, slapped a fine of Rs 2000 on a shop for using banned plastic products. They sent 15 food samples to food analysis laboratory for test.
