Counting of Votes: Instructions to Assistant Polling Officers at Erode

District Collector Rajagopal Sunkara has directed the Assistant Polling Officers to ensure all the necessary infrastructures in the counting center.

The counting of votes in the Erode Lok Sabha constituency election will be held at the Erode Government Engineering College on June 4. A consultation meeting with Assistant Returning Officers regarding the counting of votes was held at the Engineering College campus under the leadership of District Returning Officer and District Collector Rajagopal Sunkara.

The collector said:

The counting of votes for the Erode Lok Sabha constituency will be held on June 4.  Votes will be counted in 84 tables for the 6 Legislative Assembly constituencies at the rate of 14 tables per Legislative Assembly constituency. Therefore, the Assistant Returning Officers should take steps to bring the EVMs safely from the security room to the counting room, and ensure serial number  in all tables 1 to 14. The tally of votes must be duly recorded on the notice board at the end of each round.

Basic facilities including drinking water, seats and temporary toilets should be arranged inside the counting room. In the counting center, a separate route should be arranged for the candidates, candidate agents, and a separate route for the counting staff and government officials. He said that the assistant polling officers should ensure all the necessary infrastructures in the polling center and the counting of votes should be carried out following the guidelines of the Election Commission.

In this review meeting, Erode Corporation Commissioner V. Sivakrishnamurthy, Assistant Collector (Training) Ramakrishnasamy, PA to Collector (election) Raghunathan, all assistant polling officers  participated.
