Scientist T. Ramasamy said that the researches of young scientists should reach commonmen.
In the Erode Book Festival organized by Erode District Administration and Makkal Sindhanai Peravai, industrialist D. Shanmugan, Peravai President T. Stalin Gunasekaran, industrialist V. Senthilmurugan, S. Vivek Karthik spoke.
Scientist T. Ramasamy presented a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh to Mr. Shankaralingam, who is working as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry, NIT, Kozhikode, Kerala, and who has been nominated for this year's GT Naidu Award by Mustapha Tamil Foundation, Singapore. He was given this award for finding a cure for lung cancer and obtaining a federal patent.
M. Sankaralingama spoke ''We are engaged in research to find a cure for lung cancer and we have obtained a federal patent as the first step in finding a cure. I have now been awarded for this research.''
M. Lakshmanan, scientist who participated as a special guest, said: In our country, the Central and State governments provide opportunities in various educational institutions with grants for young scientists to carry out research. Parents should encourage interested students to continue their education and research in that field. He said that many achievements in science can be achieved only when young scientists come.
