Builders Association of India (BAI), Coimbatore Center, has represented to the District administration to intervene to control the recent steep increase in prices of construction materials. The association represented by its Chairman Mr. R.Ganesh Kumar, Past Chairman Mr. K. Viswanathan and Secretary Mr. L. Joseph met the District Collector, Mr. Kranthi Kumar Pati on Thursday, and gave a memorandum.

Mr. R. Ganesh Kumar, Chairman BAI Coimbatore,  stated that the prices of M Sand, P Sand and Jelly has increased by almost 30 % from February 1.This abrupt escalation in costs has had a detrimental impact on builders, contractors, and building owners. Consequently, the by products such as readymade concrete and flyash bricks have also witness price increase.

This abrupt escalation in costs has had a detrimental impact on builders, contractors, and building owners, leading to financial losses and the reduction / suspension of construction activities at various sites.

This would also result in loss of jobs to construction workers including migrant labour. New projects are also likely to be postponed resulting in a slowdown for the sector. He requested that the Government address the needs of the crusher industry so that prices can be controlled for the benefit of the entire construction sector.
