Dr. K Anand Kumar, Managing Director of Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL), has been awarded the honorary Doctor of Science at the 22nd Convocation of Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences in Chennai. His visionary leadership has led to the development of numerous vital human and animal vaccines, enhancing the nation's self-sufficiency in this critical field.
Under his leadership, IIL has become the largest producer of human anti-rabies vaccine in the world and exports vaccines to over 60 countries. Kumar has a PhD in Microbiology and over 30 years of experience in the vaccine and biotechnology industries. He has received several awards, including the best alumnus award from his alma mater, the Distinguished alumnus award from PSG Sons and Charities, and the Vocational Excellence Award from Rotary International.
