On behalf of Sathy based NGO-READ-an awareness program on Sexual Harassment against Women at Workplace ( Prevention , Prohibition and Redressal ) Act , 2013 was held for the workers of Ilangovan Textile Company.
Ms. Icha Hegde, Vice President, the company inaugurated the event.

In his speech, READ director Karuppasamy said the Act has been implemented in Tamil Nadu. The Social Welfare Department is the functional department and the District Social Welfare Officer is the functional officer to implement this Act in the district. As per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) should be established in all offices. District Collectors have been notified as District Officers to constitute Local Complaints Committee (LCC) in each district. It was followed by an awareness play about sexual violence against women in workplaces. Ms. Nirmala, Project Coordinator, READ, proposed a vote of thanks.
