51 paddy procurement centres to be opened in LBP ayacut

During the current kharif marketing season, 51 Paddy procurement centres will be opened in LBP ayacut, said Housing Minister S Muthusamy.
He inaugurated a centre at Nasiyanur on Thursday. He told newsmen: 6 centres were opened today and the rest will be opened step by step according to the need of ryots. 
Last year, 74 centers opened in the district including in Kalingarayan and Tadapalli Arakkankottai ayacut and 96865 tons were procured. 
This year the procurement would cross 1 lakh tons. This year in Tadapalli Arakkankottai, 35 centres were opened and 25000 tons were procured so far. The government fixed procurement price of Rs 23.10 per kg as procurement price for fine and Rs 22.65 for coarse varieties. 
Farmers complaints regarding collection of loading and unloading charges or any would be attended by TNCSC. 
The government announced an incentive of Rs 1.07 per kg for fine and 82 paise for coarse variety  paddy, he added. 
LBP ISSUE: He said he held talks with the ryots who opposed the LBP canal modernisation work on Dec 25 to ensure peace in the district as they took out a rally against the project. 
Holding talks would not tantamount to contempt of court as no decision was taken agsinst the HC order upholding the GO on modernisation of the project. 
Within the purview of the HC order only any decision will be taken. 
In fact, the opponents and supporters of the project, signed a pact regarding the works to be initiated under the project. 
Our aim is to ensure smooth passage of work and avoid law and order problem in the district. As the opponents took out a rally in Erode only. 
So, the meeting was held in Erode collectorate and other districts collectors were not invited. 
Even if we suggest anything againt the ruling of HC, the collector would not allow it. 
If any changes could be made in the project work, it would be done after getting the nod of 
HC.
He said police would take illicit liquor sales, and illegal Tasmac liquor sales.  people's demand on closure of Tasmac shops in any area would be considered.
