Tourism Minister inaugurates Tourism Day celebration at Ooty

Nilgiris Hotel Restaurant Association (NRSUU) organized an awareness walk and motor rally on the occasion of World Tourism Day from Utagai Tribal Cultural Centre, Nilgiris District.
He flagged off the rally in which owners of hotels including Gem Park, Monarch, Preethi Classic Tower, Durga, Nahar, etc. 300 people participated. 
Later, he told the press: the CM has announced various schemes through the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation and is allocating more funds for the development of tourism sites. 
World Tourism Day is observed on 27th September every year.
Each year focuses on one theme and spreads its importance around the world. 
Accordingly, the theme for this year has been announced as Tourism and Peace.  in Kanyakumari, iIllumination works with the help of laser technology at a cost of Rs.12.92 crores was made so that the statue of Ayyan Thiruvalluvar can be seen even at night, restoration works of the Poompugar Art Gallery was made at a cost of Rs.23.60 crores, and Ogenakal tourist spot in Dharmapuri district at a cost of Rs. 17.57 crores.
On this occasion, Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Soundarajan, Assistant Revenue Commissioner Mr. Maharaj, Tourism Officer Ms.Durgadevi, and many others attended.
