Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin visited the residence of former MP R Mohan in Coimbatore's Sungam area on December 10 to offer condolences to his family. Speaking to reporters, Stalin praised R Mohan as a pillar of the DMK in Coimbatore district who rose through the ranks to serve as an MLA and MP. He acknowledged Mohan's contributions to the party, describing his passing as a significant loss.
Reflecting on his recent field research in Erode, Stalin expressed optimism for the DMK’s prospects in the 2026 Assembly elections, predicting victories in 200 constituencies. When questioned about Rahul Gandhi's legal challenges, Stalin stated that the Congress leader would face the case in accordance with the law. Regarding the Erode East by-election, he expressed confidence in a win for either the DMK or the INDI alliance, adding that the candidate would be decided after consultations.
On the "one nation, one election" proposal, Stalin criticised it as a harmful policy that undermines democracy. Addressing the Ambedkar issue, he said that INDI Alliance leaders would collectively decide the next course of action. When asked about actors entering politics, the Chief Minister welcomed the trend, viewing it positively. Ministers KN Nehru, Muthusamy, and MP Saminathan were among the DMK leaders who accompanied Stalin during the visit.
