Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Health Sciences Campus in Kochi has unveiled Kerala’s first-ever Virtual Anatomy Table, a revolutionary tool in medical education.
The state-of-the-art "Anatomage Table" integrates advanced visualization technology with real human cadaveric data, offering an immersive and precise learning experience for medical students.
The table uses digitized cadavers reconstructed from frozen slices of real human bodies, creating life-size 3D anatomical models with unparalleled detail. These include male, female, geriatric, and pregnant body types, with features like a fully mapped vascular system and thousands of annotated structures for in-depth exploration.
Inaugurated by Dr. Prem Nair, Provost and Group Medical Director of Amrita Hospitals, the event also saw the presence of distinguished faculty members, including Dr. K.P. Gireesh Kumar, Principal of Amrita School of Medicine. “The Anatomage Table will transform anatomy education by allowing students to visualize and interact with 3D models, observe real-time clinical simulations, and understand the effects of diseases on organs,” said Dr. Gireesh Kumar.
The table is expected to benefit over 5,000 students at the Kochi campus, enhancing traditional cadaver-based learning. Additionally, it supports diagnostics, surgical planning, and patient communication, allowing trainees to practice procedures like dissection and ultrasound in a risk-free environment.
This cutting-edge facility marks a significant leap in medical education, empowering students with tools to gain exceptional clarity and confidence in their training.
