The Crop Protection Center at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University recently commemorated World Plant Health Day within the college premises. Dr. Geethalakshmi, the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of the University, graced the occasion with her presence and inaugurated the event.


The Director of the Crop Protection Center, Dr. Shanti, enlightened students about the significance and objectives of this special day. Dr. Balasubramani, the Superintendent of Examinations, delivered a captivating talk on maintaining optimal plant health through various technical methodologies. As part of the festivities, the Vice-Chancellor felicitated post-graduate students from the Crop Protection Center who clinched top honors in competitions focusing on themes such as plant health, safe trade, and computer technology awareness, including best photograph, best painting, and best essay.


Furthermore, an international web workshop ensued, featuring enlightening sessions by Dr. Prasanna, who shed light on the challenges faced by farmers concerning plant health, and Dr. Sonai Rajan, who emphasised the safe and proper utilisation of pesticides to raise awareness among students. 
Dr. Prasad, Director of the Central Cotton Research Institute, shared insights on advanced computer technologies in the cotton industry, while Dr. Alice Sujitha discussed Plant Control Rules and Biodiversity Conservation.


With the participation of over 450 postgraduate students, research assistants, and scientists, the event proved to be a fruitful endeavour, encouraging knowledge and awareness among attendees.
