QR Code based access initatied for Comprehensive Local Plan in Salem

Municipal Administration Minister Mr. K.N. Nehru inaugurated on February 16, 2024. an initiative which aims to make information pertaining to the Comprehensive Local Plan readily available through QR codes. 

The Comprehensive Plan for Salem Local Plan Area, initially issued on March 22, 2005, covers an extensive territory of 643.17 sq. kms, encompassing Salem Corporation, 8 Municipalities, and 154 villages. Over the years, revisions and expansions have been made, resulting in the current coverage of an area spanning 1273.20 sq km, which includes Salem Corporation, 2 Municipalities, 8 Town Panchayats, and 277 Village Panchayats.

 Highlighting the importance of public participation, Minister Nehru emphasized that the revised boundaries and expansion of the Salem Local Plan Area necessitate active involvement from residents. To facilitate this engagement, a dedicated website, www.salemlpamasterplan.com, has been launched. This platform allows citizens to access the master plan report, maps, land-use tables, and related information. Furthermore, the public can download draft documents via the website or through QR codes and submit objections or suggestions within a stipulated two-month period from the date of publication in the Tamil Nadu Gazette. 

The event witnessed the presence of several officials and key persons including District Collector Dr. R. Brindadevi, Mayor of the Corporation Mr. A. Ramachandran, Salem Member of Parliament Mr. S.R. Parthiban, and other elected representatives.
