The district sessions court in Ooty adjourned the Kodanad heist-cum-murder case to February 9 when it came up for hearing on Friday.Following the demise of AIADMK stalwart and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, her bungalow in Kodanad was heisted and a security personnel was killed in 2017. It was alleged that the crime was committed by one Kanagaraj, a resident of Salem, along with his friends. But even before police could advance their inquiry, Kanagaraj was killed in a road accident. Following which, police arrested 10 people including Sayan and Walayar Manoj. The case was heard by the district sessions court in Ooty.About a year ago, the case was handed over to CB-CID and CB-CID ADSP Murugavel and his team have been investigating the case. The team comprising 49 officials have submitted a four-page long chargesheet. In the last ten months ever since the agency took up the case, they have inquired 189 people.
To identify the people Kanagaraj was in touch with, police have sent Kanagaraj’s mobile phone to a laboratory in Gujarat. When they came up for hearing, police seized all their mobile phones and now, they have identified some important information related to the case. It includes the information related to the case.When the case came up for hearing, only three out of ten accused appeared before the court. Hence, the judge adjourned the case to February 9.
