In a significant move to enhance healthcare services in hilly rural areas, Public Works Minister EV Velu and Health Minister M Subramanian inaugurated new medical buildings and launched 25 two-wheeler ambulances at Jamunamarathur on December 26.
This initiative, costing Rs. 1.60 crore, aims to provide emergency medical services to tribal and remote communities. 
Additionally, blood test analyzers worth Rs. 14 lakhs were distributed to 20 Mobile Medical Units operating in hilly regions.
During the event, Minister EV Velu highlighted various development projects, including road construction, electricity, and drinking water facilities in hill villages. 
He praised the Chief Minister's efforts in transforming healthcare access through initiatives like two-wheeler ambulances and mobile medical units, ensuring care reaches even the most remote areas.
Minister Subramanian emphasised the government’s commitment to tribal welfare, stating that over 2200 hill villages now benefit from proactive medical outreach. 
He noted that 1365 new health buildings have been constructed since the government took charge, replacing old and damaged structures to bolster healthcare infrastructure.
The ministers also flagged off a new bus service connecting Kilampakkam and Tambaram and distributed welfare assistance to 395 beneficiaries from various departments.
The event saw the participation of key officials, including District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian, District Revenue Officer Dr. I Irampradeepan, and health officials, along with local representatives and government department officers.
