Madurai GST Deputy Commissioner arrested for accepting bribe

Two Central Excise Department inspectors in Madurai were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 3.5 lakh. During questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), it was revealed that Saravana Kumar, the GST Deputy Commissioner of Madurai, was involved in the bribery case. As a result, the CBI arrested Saravana Kumar and conducted a search at his residence in Thiruvidaimarudur, Thanjavur district, his hometown. A team of five CBI officers was deployed to investigate further.
