Balakumar, aged 38, served as the head constable in the Intelligence Division stationed at Saravanampatti. His wife, employed at the Taj Group of Hotels, recently received a promotion and was relocated to the Taj Hotel in London just 15 days ago. She left their two children under the care of her parents in Salem.

Allegedly, Balakumar engaged in a heated argument with his wife over the phone. Upon completing his election duty, he returned home on the morning of April 20. Concerned when he failed to report to work on his scheduled Saturdays and Sundays, his parents attempted to contact him without success.

They reached out to the Saravanampatti police station, prompting the authorities to visit his residence last night. Tragically, they discovered that Balakumar had taken his own life by hanging. The police proceeded to retrieve his body and transport it to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Additionally, they have initiated an investigation into the incident.
