In a special camp for transgenders organized by the Social Welfare and Women's Rights Department in the district collectorate on Friday, District Collector M. Aruna gave driving license to 3 transgenders.
She said the camp was held to give voters ID, ration card, health insurance card etc to the transgenders. A special grievance redressal day meeting for transgenders will be conducted on I Friday of every month. Transgenders should regularly participate in the meeting and express their grievances and demands and get benefits from the government's welfare schemes, she advised.
In this event, Women Program Director, Mr. Kasinathan, Chief Education Officer, Ms. Geetha, Deputy Director (Health), Mr. Balusamy, District Social Welfare Officer Praveena Devi, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Officer Jayakumar and RDOs Kalaichelvi (Kunda) and Mrs. Rajeshwari (Gudalur) and District Development Officers were present.
