The councilors of the Erode corporation demanded that a separate contractor should be appointed to maintain

Uratchikottai drinking water scheme and regularise the water supply system.

The Erode Corporation Council meeting was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Mayor S. Nagaratnam. Deputy Mayor V. Selvaraj, Chief Engineer Vijayakumar presided.

In the ordinary and urgent meeting, a total of 17 resolutions were passed. In the meeting, the councilors said that drinking water connections should be provided to all the houses. Currently, the drinking water supply is affected. The public is asking the councilors about this. When we ask officials they don't attend mobile calls.

So drinking water should be provided properly. The employees of private companies who msintain drinking water are not in touch with the employees of the corporation. There is a problem with the distribution. It should be monitored whether there is enough water in Cauvery for the drinking water scheme.

The private company that completed the  water project has received 90 percent of the amount. So they will not come for maintenance work from now on. So, to Corporation employees do the work of the private firm. Therefore, a separate contractor should be appointed for the maintenance of the drinking water project.

Funds from the corporation are being spent in vain for various reasons. Therefore, the corporation administration should take steps to spend on useful work. Attendance is recorded for dengue control workers. There are reports of late arrivals and marking of absent. This is wrong, for working people  due wages should be paid. Even if they come late, they have worked for a full day. So, they should be  paid fully.

The already paid wages should be paid to the drinking water tank operators. It seems that there are errors in their attendance registration.  In the meeting, zonal President PK Palaniswami read out a resolution condoling the demise of DMDK leader Vijayakanth. All the councilors and officers paid silent tribute for a minute.
