The 36th Convocation of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women was held on Jan 5. Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Deviji, was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address. Dr. T.S.K. Meenakshisundaram, Chancellor of the Institute and Managing Trustee of Avinashilingam Education Trust, presided over the Convocation.
During the Convocation, a total number of 2,472 candidates from all disciplines including 91 Medal Winners, 33 Ph.Ds., 1 M.Phil., 624 Postgraduates and 1814 Undergraduates were conferred their degrees.
The Convocation was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Members of the Executive Council and Academic Council, Academic and Administrative officials, Special Invitees, well-wishers and parents of the
graduates. 
Vice Chancellor Dr. V. Bharathi Harishankar welcomed the gathering.
The Convocation was declared open by the Chancellor. In his address, the Chancellor proudly stated that it was an honour to have the Minister as the Chief Guest for the 36th Convocation of the Institute.
The Minister in her convocation address appreciated the extraordinary achievements of the institution. Registrar Dr. H. Indu proposed the Vote of Thanks.
