Donald Trump's recent statement that he will revoke the birthright citizenship that is currently in force in the country after taking office as the President of the United States, has shocked  foreigners living in the United States.
When birthright citizenship is revoked in the United States, those who are currently born there under that law may also lose their citizenship. Accordingly, Indians living in the United States are likely to be greatly affected. Because there are 48 lakh Indian-Americans living in the United States. Of these, 34 percent, i.e. 1.6 million (16 lakh people), were born in the United States. All of these 1.6 lakh people are American citizens under the US birthright law. Donald Trump's current announcement has created a situation where these 16 lakh Indians are also at risk of being deprived of their citizenship.
Indians living in America have played a major role in the growth of the country. The fact that they hold high positions there is proof of this. Indians have voted for Trump in large numbers in the recent elections. Considering all this, will Donald Trump announce any exemptions in the US citizenship law? Indians living there are eagerly waiting for January 20th! Will Trump make American citizenship a thing of the past and make Indians breathe a sigh of relief?
