Erode District HMS Uzhaippalargal Sangam district President Manokaran requested the Centre to establish an ESI hospital with all facilities in Erode district.
The Sangham meeting was presided over by the state President of the Sangham and national president of HMS Raja Sridhar at the Sangham office. Various resolutions were passed in it.
After that Manoharan said: over 1.50 lakh workers were in Erode district. Their family members could be around 6 lakh. As they didn't have proper medical facilities, the Central government should take steps to allocate funds in the upcoming budget to set up an ESI hospital with all facilities in the district.
The then Chief Minister Karunanidhi announced a Rs 700 crore project to treat the dyeing units wastes and discharge it in the sea near Ramanathapuram for the benefit of 14 districts including Erode, Karur, Namakkal, Tirupur, Salem and Coimbatore. Tamil Nadu Government should take steps to implement the project without delay.
Two additional platforms should be constructed at Erode railway station to increase the halting time of trains and meet the growing needs of public. The passenger train from Erode to Coimbatore is operated once in a day. It should be operated as fast passenger train with 4 times in a day from Erode to Coimbatore, he said.
