Bharatiya Mazdur Sangh Tasmac Union President Iswaran and Secretary Gunasekaran gave a petition at the Erode District Collector's Office on Monday. In that petition they have said: The police should ensure adequate job security as the Tasmac shop workers who have been working at low wages for 20 years and bringing income to the Tamil Nadu government have been attacked by anti-social elements in recent times.
The government should immediately come forward to address the problems like lack of space in the Tasmac shops to collect empty liquor bottles by giving Rs 10 to consumers and maintaining accounts for it.
The shops are very small. So there is a shortage of space to store empty bottles. If kept them outside, it will be stolen. At present, in the hills and in 10 districts, liquor bottles are collected. This practice exists in the Thalavadi and Bargur hills in Erode district. Government plans to implement the scheme across the state from next month.
So, the government should solve the practical problems of collecting liquor bottles.
The retirement age in other government departments has been raised from 58 to 60. Tasmac staff should also be given similar order. Out of 183 shops in Erode district only 10 or 15 shops are provided with refrigerator. Wine lovers ask for cold beer. Therefore, employees spend up to Rs 45000 at their own expense to buy it. They even pay the electricity bill for it, because the government pays only half of the electricity bill. Assistants with more than 21 years of service are paid Rs 10500, Salesmen12500, Supervisor 14500. Therefore, the government should provide a fair salary and solve other problems. If the Tamil Nadu government fails to fulfill the above demands, TASMAC employees will protest in front of the district collector's office on June 10, they added.
