Over 60K voices heard in “MakkaludanMudhalvar” citizen-goverment interactions in Salem Dt.

A staggering count of 60,709 petitions poured in during the 142 camps in the inaugural phase of " MakkaludanMudhalvar " project organized from December 18, 2023, to January 6, 2024, in Salem district.

A staggering count of 60,709 petitions poured in during the 142 camps in the inaugural phase of " MakkaludanMudhalvar " project organized from December 18, 2023, to January 6, 2024, in Salem district. These camps, meticulously coordinated by Camp Monitoring Officers and Camp In-Charge Officers, facilitated citizens in presenting their grievances and concerns to various government departments.

Officially launched on December 18, 2023, in Coimbatore district by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, this project received further impetus when the Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Mr.Udhayanidhi Stalin, inaugurated the scheme in Salem district. The initiative, "Chief Minister in Field Study," has spawned a groundbreaking project called "MakkaludanMudhalvar" and "IllamThediSevai." This initiative aims to streamline public access to government services, ensuring quick and convenient assistance for citizens. It initially targeted Salem Corporation, municipalities, and village panchayats around the city, marking a majoir step in refining government service delivery.

During these camps, reflecting the diverse spectrum of issues faced by the public,  petitions related to revenue matters, disaster management, drinking water supply, electricity board concerns, housing, development, disabled persons' welfare, labor welfare, and skill development took center stage, according to the collector S.Karmegam.

Echoing the sentiments of numerous citizens who found expedited solutions to their long-standing problems, beneficiaries like V. Soundararajan of Mechery area and Ravi from Peramanoor area in Salem district highlighted the tangible impact of these camps. Soundararajan expressed heartfelt gratitude for swiftly receiving a wheelchair that he petitioned for, while Ravi lauded the promptness in effecting an electrical connection name change.

The "MakkaludanMudhalvar" project camps has not only empowered individuals but also demonstrated a shift in administrative tactics, fostering a responsive and citizen-centric governance model.
