Over 5000 banana trees damaged in wild wind

Over 5,000 banana trees were damaged due to the rains accompanied by wild winds for the 2nd day in Thalavadi hill.

In Erode district, the Talavadi hill region next to Sathyamangalam has been suffering from severe heat for the past few days. Due to this, the public was in a lot of trouble. Also, crops for cultivation were affected due to lack of rain.

There was heavy rain on Saturday along with wild winds at different places in Thalavadi hill region. In this, more than 10 thousand banana trees were damaged.

 For the second day on Sunday, various places including Karalavadi, Bharathipuram, Sornavathi, Ramapuram, Thottakajanur received rain with wild winds. In this, more than 5000 banana trees of more than 7 farmers were damaged. Due to this, the farmers have reported a loss of up to Rs.20 lakhs.

Due to strong winds, a roadside tree fell on the road from Thalavadi to Ramapuram. Rainwater overflowed in hollow places. Also, 6 power poles were toppled in Ramapuram and Bharathipuram areas.

As a result, power supply was cut off in the area. Electricity workers are engaged in the work of repairing the poles.
