Minister S Muthusamy provides electronic ration cards to 1656 beneficiaries at Coimbatore

Minister of Housing and Urban Development S Muthusamy distributed electronic ration cards to 1,656 beneficiaries at an event held at the Coimbatore Collectorate, on behalf of the Department of Food Supply and Consumer Protection on August 25.

During his address, the minister highlighted the ongoing efforts by the Tamil Nadu government under the leadership of Chief Minister MK Stalin. He emphasised that the Chief Minister is actively overseeing development projects across all districts, urging district collectors and relevant officials to expedite their completion.

Coimbatore currently has 1,253 full-time and 289 part-time ration shops. Last year, 96 full-time and 32 part-time ration shops were inaugurated, with 36 part-time shops upgraded to full-time. Since 2021, 90,000 electronic ration cards have been distributed. In 2023, a total of 15,010 electronic ration card applications were received, of which 1,656 have been successfully processed and distributed. The minister also advised applicants to rectify any errors in their applications to avoid rejection and ensure the issuance of their ration cards.

The event was attended by Coimbatore Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, MP Ganapathy Rajkumar, Mayor Ranganayaki, Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, District Revenue Officer Sharmila, Deputy Mayor R Vetrichelvan, and other officials.
