Livestock Census inaugurated at Coimbatore

The 21st Livestock Census on behalf of Animal Husbandry Department was inaugurated by District Collector Mr. Krantikumar Padi  at Coimbatore District Collector Office.
Animal Husbandry Department Zonal Joint Director S.Thirukumaran, Assistant Director Elango, Veterinary Assistant Doctors Padmavathy, Jyoti and many others participated in this event. He said the census is done every five years by the Central Government through Animal Husbandry Department. In order to provide accurate data for livestock related development programs and livestock the census is conducted every five years. It includes cows and buffaloes, goats, horses, dogs, pigs, chickens, ducks etc.This livestock census will be taken through active mobile phones developed for this purpose. The Census will be conducted for four months starting from today till February 2025. 13,19,000 households will be surveyed. For this work, 234 enumerators and 48 supervisors have been appointed in Coimbatore district to scrutinize the work of the enumerators and they have been given training at various levels related to this project.
