Salem district's voter rolls for its 11 constituencies now feature a total of 29,61,513 voters, including 14,71,774 men, 14,89,420 women, and 319 others, according to the latest draft released by District Election Officer and District Collector, Dr. R. Brindha Devi.
The draft voter list was made public on October 29, 2024, in the presence of representatives from recognized political parties at the District Collector’s office. The release of the draft is part of the voter list revision process, which will continue until November 28, 2024, with January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date for voter eligibility.
The draft voter list is available for public viewing at all polling stations and at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. Voters can make corrections, add new names, or remove entries by submitting the necessary forms at their respective polling centers or online at voters.eci.gov.in and www.elections.tn.gov.in. The Voter Helpline app also provides a platform for submitting applications.
Special registration camps will be held at polling stations on November 16, 17, 23, and 24, 2024, to facilitate applications from those who have turned 18, along with anyone needing to correct or update their details.
The voter rolls for specific constituencies in Salem district reveal the following breakdown: Gangavalli constituency has 2,27,818 voters, Athur 2,39,665 voters, Yercaud 2,82,489 voters, Omalur 2,97,967 voters, Mettur 2,74,949 voters, Edappadi 2,87,139 voters, Sankagiri 2,70,627 voters, Salem (West) 3,01,671 voters, Salem (North) 2,69,093 voters, Salem (South) 2,50,446 voters, and Veerapandi 2,59,649 voters.
Dr. Brindha Devi emphasized that eligible voters who turn 18 on or before January 1, 2025, can apply for inclusion in the voter list by using Form 6. Citizens seeking to remove names can use Form 7, while those needing corrections or updates should submit Form 8.
The final voter list will be published on January 6, 2025, after reviewing all applications received by the deadline.
Senior district officials, including District Revenue Officer Ms. P. Menaka, Personal Assistant to the Collector (Elections) Mr. Sivasubramaniyan, and Salem Revenue Divisional Officer Ms. A. Abhinaya, were present at the event, along with representatives from various political parties.
