Thevar lived as a hero and passed away as a hero, as glorified by Kalaignar (M. Karunanidhi). The Dravidian Model government is a government that honors martyrs like Thevar. In a way that adds to the glory of Muthuramalinga Thevar, we have implemented several projects. The DMK government has introduced various schemes in the name of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar'he said.
Stalin further said that a hall has been built at the Pasumpon memorial at a cost of Rs. 1.55 crore. We established the Muthuramalinga Thevar Educational Trust at Alagappa University. We have opened colleges in Madurai and several other places under Thevar's name.
To a question of fishermen issue, he said
" We are continuously working to secure the release of the fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy. When I go to Delhi, I meet with the Prime Minister to discuss the fishermen's arrests.
We have written several letters to the Union government, and as a result, fishermen are gradually being released. The Ministry of External Affairs also occasionally takes action to ensure their release. However, the fishermen's problem persists despite the actions of the External Affairs Ministry. A permanent solution must be found for the fishermen's issue.
We have also revived the Cauvery-Gundar project, which had been pending for 9 years."
More than 3,000 police personnel were deployed for security in Madurai district in connection with the Thevar Guru Puja celebrations.
