Former Minister Thoppu ND Venkatachalam canvassed votes on Tuesday in support of the Communist Party of India candidate and present MP K. Subbarayan for Tirupur Lok Sabha constituency.
He campaignd in Kampuliyampati, Vijayapuri, Moongilpalayam, Mettuputhur, Karatadipalayam, Ponmudi village panchayats under Perundurai union.
He said: In order to prevent series of accidents on the Salem-Kochi national four-lane highway, Subbarayan got Rs 90 cr from the Centre after great efforts to build flyovers, underpass and service roads in
Chithudu division, Kanchikovil division, Vaipadi division. He said that a contract has been issued to carry out the work. He also listed out various achievements and services of Subbarayan to the constituency.
CPI district deputy secretary S. Chinnaswamy and alliance party administrators were present.
