Training programme on the DAP-based ECCE curriculum at Coimbatore

The Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore recently concluded the 10 days training programme on the DAP-based ECCE curriculum for professionals working with children under the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Short-Term (DAST) programme. 
A valedictory function was held on the 9th of August 2024. The training programme was conducted in the third phase of the project on formulating a Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP)-based ECCE framework. The training program drew 37 professionals from the Coimbatore, Erode, and Tiruppur districts, including 10 Child Development Project Officers from the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), 10 preschool administrators, 10 teachers from various institutions, and 7 postgraduate students from the Department of Human Development.
Participants explored various aspects of ECCE through the lens of developmental appropriateness. The training focused on core DAP principles, ECCE curriculum planning, and content areas across developmental domains such as physical and motor skills, language, cognitive development, and socio-emotional growth. 
The valedictory programme was honored by Dr. V. Bharathi Harishankar, Vice Chancellor of the Avinashilingam Institute. 
In her address, she praised the collaboration and success of the training programme, urging participants to disseminate their newly acquired knowledge to fellow educators.
Ms. Elysia J. Garcia, the Fulbright Fellow spearheading the programme, expressed her enthusiasm for the successful collaboration and the positive outcomes of the training programme in her special address.
