Members of TN Government Doctors Association boycotted all works in the GH and PHCs in the district in protest against the attack on Dr Balaji in the Guindy Kalaignar centenary GH. The stir causing much inconvenience to the public.
Heading their dharna in Erode GH, the association district secretary Adaikkalam said that as per the call given by the association, the doctors attended only emergency surgeries, delivery cases, and urgent treatment.
The next course of action will be decided as per the call of the EC meeting of the association held today at Chennai. In general,  the association wanted more security in the GHs and some restriction to visitors to the ICU and important wards. During the previous ADMK rule, visitors  pass was given to check overcrowd in the wards.  Some time restrictions were also enforced. After people's protest, the system was withdrawn. But the rules were still existed. We didn't want to restore such norms. But some restrictions to check over crowd and due security to doctors and staff. The government should fill up all posts in the health department.
In Erode GH, 106 doctors were working. But 17 specialists posts and 30 sub staff posts were vacant, causing much work load to the existing staff.
