The Tamil Nadu government, in response to last year's severe monsoon floods, has launched the TN-Alert mobile app to help the public stay informed about weather conditions and precautions. Announced by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and released by Minister KKSSR Ramachandran, this user-friendly app provides location-based weather updates and safety tips in Tamil.
This app has the facility to know information like weather forecast for the next four days, rain gauge wise daily rainfall, current water availability of reservoirs, whether your location is under flood risk. The app provides a way for people affected by calamities and heavy rains to register their complaints and contact the district administration. It will help the public to know the weather warning about the disaster and take preparedness accordingly.
There is no doubt that this app of the Tamil Nadu government can reduce the property damage and avoid the loss of life completely in any disaster.
It is however necessary for the Tamil Nadu government to raise awareness about this app so that it reaches all the people. Storms, rains and floods are natural; It cannot be prevented. But the ``pre-arrival protection app'' has come to announce the arrival in advance.
