Tiruvannamalai Collector receives petitions from public

The Tiruvannamalai District Collector, D Bhaskara Pandian, presided over the Jamabandi (revenue settlement) for the 1433 Pasali year at the Vembakkam District Collector's office on June 19. The event saw an influx of petitions from the public and disabled individuals across 15 villages under the Natteri inner circle.

Over the past few days, the Jamabandi event has been a significant platform for citizens to address their grievances. On the first day, 177 petitions were received from residents of 18 villages under the Thusi inner circle. The following day, 202 petitions were submitted from 19 villages under the Thusi and Vembakkam inner circles. On the third day, 410 petitions came from 20 villages under the Vembakkam inner circle, totaling 789 petitions. These were forwarded to the relevant department officers for appropriate action.

The fourth day saw the revenue settlement audit and petition review continue at the Vembakkam District Collector's office. Villagers from Ariyur, Panamukai, Brahmadesam, Chattuvanthangal, Siru Vanjipattu, Irumaram, Munjurpet, Seevaram, Sirunavalpattu, Natteri, Vada Iluppai, Seynur, Pulivalam, Poonthandalam, and Sunaipattu presented their issues.

Among the petitions were requests for lease changes (141), refusal of subdivision leases (44), measurement and display issues (8), removal of encroachments (7), new family cards (9), free housing leases (27), and old age/disabled allowances (25). Other departments received 104 petitions, with 10 categorised as miscellaneous, totaling 375 petitions. The District Collector directed the officers to take swift and appropriate actions.

Additionally, five families from Vadailupai village, belonging to the Ilurar class, personally submitted petitions for new family cards.

The event was attended by key officials, including Assistant Director of the Land Survey Department, Thirunavukkarasu; Vembakkam District Collector, P Thulasiraman; Special District Collector for Social Security Scheme, K Perumal; and Office Manager (General), Ravi, along with other department officers.
