Tiruvannamalai District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian inspected development projects in the Cheyyar region under the Ungalai Thedi Ungal Ooril scheme on September 18. The event was presided over by Cheyyar Assembly member O Jyoti, in line with the Chief Minister's directive to conduct field surveys directly.
During his visit, the Collector inspected Government Arts College, focusing on classroom and toilet conditions, and instructed the principal to ensure campus cleanliness. He also held a consultation meeting with the principals of 173 government schools in Cheyyar Education District, discussing ways to improve student pass rates in the upcoming general examinations. The pass rates for each school were analysed, with the Collector inquiring about the reasons for any declines.
Additionally, Rs. 23.6 lakhs was distributed to 11 women's self-help groups in the Panchayat Union, and Rs. 19.5 lakhs was provided to 10 women's self-help groups in Cheyyar Panchayat Union. Two free house patta orders were also issued to local residents.
As part of the event, the Collector distributed saplings to 13 Anganwadi beneficiary children from Cheyyar and Anakavur areas under the 2024 scheme.
Key officials present included District Revenue Officer Ra Iram Pradeepan, Cheyyar Sub Collector Pallavi Verma, Project Director (District Rural Development Agency) Dr. Mani, District Principal Education Officer Swami Muthazhagan, and District Panchayat Committee President Parvathy Srinivasan, along with other departmental officers.
