Tiruvannamalai District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian led a Grievance Day meeting at the District Collector's Office, where 569 petitions were collected from the public. The petitions covered various demands such as educational assistance, bank loans, old age assistance, house leases, caste certificates, job opportunities, widow assistance, support for disabled persons, road facilities, and housing under the Pradhan Mantri scheme.
Collector Pandian monitored the petition writing process and emphasised the need for government officials to promptly address public grievances. He distributed milk to mothers with infants and directed PWD officers to provide separate seating and immediate assistance for differently-abled individuals. He also highlighted the importance of the Special Grievance Redressal Day meetings held every Thursday to address the needs of the differently-abled.
In addition, the District Backward and Minorities Welfare Department distributed free sewing machines worth Rs 5,900 each to two beneficiaries and a washing machine worth Rs 7,280 to one beneficiary. Appointment orders were given to five individuals selected for assistant positions in the panchayat
unit.
The meeting was attended by District Revenue Officer Dr. M Priyadarshini, District Social Welfare Officer P Saranya, District Backward and Minorities Welfare Officer Siva, and other government officials.
