Rotary District 3201 and 18 Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore organized a “Pulse Heartathon” walk - jog - run - jog - walk event in Coimbatore to raise awareness about lifestyle diseases affecting heart among young people in their thirties and forties.In this we made the participants to gradually increase their heart rate and decrease gradually to build their heart strong.
In this regard, Rotary Youth Service Chairman of RIDc3201 Rtn A. Godwin Maria Visuvasam says :- Heart attack mortality is increasing at a young age. To prevent this and create awareness Rotary District 3201 and 18 - Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore, S. P. T. Hospital and Coimbatore District Athletic Association jointly organized the “Pulse Heartathon” in Coimbatore.
The event was held from SPT hospital to the VOC ground in 5 sections. It was inaugurated by Rotary District Governor Rotarian A.K.S. N. Sundaravadivelu and Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Saravanakumar presided. In the 5 km run, more than thousand people participated including Members of the Rotary Club, Rotractors volunteers and many others participated. A painting competition was also held along with this awareness drive. The competition was held in two divisions namely 3-5 class and 6-8 class.
S.P.T. Hospital Managing Director Rtn Dr T. Subburaja said:- At present the death of young people due to heart disease is increasing in India.
In this program, S.P.T. Hospital Chairman T. Susila, R I District 3201 General Secretary Rtn Subbu, District Coordinator Rtn Padmakumar, Assistant Governors of RID 3201of Coimbatore Zone, Presidents, Secretaries, Executives and Members of 18 Rotary Clubs, Coimbatore District Athletic Association Mr. Srinivasan and many others participated.
