District level Karate Championship begins today in Coimbatore

The District Karate Coimbatore Association is organising the Coimbatore District Inter-School Karate Championship 2024 on December 7th and 8th at Hindusthan College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore. The event, which runs from 7 AM to 6 PM each day, features over 1000 students from more than 60 schools across the district.
The championship is being held in two categories: Kata (forms) and Kumite (fighting), with separate events for boys and girls. Participants, ranging from LKG to 12th grade, are competing in various weight categories. The event is officiated by over 100 referees and judges.
The inaugural ceremony on December 7th at 10 AM was attended by A Anand, District Sports & Youth Welfare Officer; Priya sathish, correspondent of Hindusthan College; and other prominent guests, including Sensei Neil Moses,  Paul Vickraman, Sensei Dr. BA Devaraj. The event is sponsored by Hindusthan College, which is generously providing the venue. Organisers from the Karate Coimbatore Association, led by President Sensei Dr. R Veeramani, have expressed excitement about hosting such a large-scale event, aiming to promote karate and sportsmanship among the youth of Coimbatore.
