The strike of ration shop and primary agriculture co-operative bank workers held for the past three days across Tamil Nadu has been called off. The strike was called by the Tamil Nadu All Cooperative Bank Employees Unions. The state general secretary of the association, Kamaraj Pandian, and Erode district secretary, Mesappan, said: "Three main demands have been accepted by the government.The concerned registrars will take steps to post the ration shop workers in their respective districts or in their own unions. A penalty of three times the actual value of each kilogram of commodities was imposed on the staff if shortages were found in the ration shops. It was agreed to reduce it to two times as before. It was agreed to supply of grocery items, agarbatti soap, in ration shops will be made on demand and take back the unsold items. On this basis, negotiations were held with the government officials and the union. Orders for this should be issued immediately. For this, the Association expresses its gratitude to the Chief Minister, Minister of Cooperatives and Minister of Food. Similarly, a new wage agreement has been issued for bank employees with effect from April 1, 2023. But there are many wage discrepancies in it. It should be rectified and a new circular should be issued by Diwali to protect the welfare of around 12000 bank employees working in 4550 banks across Tamilnadu.
