The 33rd Olympic Games started yesterday in Paris, the capital of France. For the first time outside the stadium, the opening ceremony is going on in full swing as all the national teams parade in boats on the river Seine. Around 1 crore tickets have been sold this time which is unprecedented in the history of the Olympics.
A total of 117 players including 70 male players and 47 female players will participate on behalf of India. India is expected to win medals in javelin, wrestling, badminton, shooting, hockey and boxing this time.
Neeraj Chopra sets record by winning javelin gold medal at 2020 Tokyo Olympics. India's eyes will be on him this time too. Besides, young athletes Jena and Annu Rani will also participate in javelin.
Mohammad Anas Yahia, Mohammad Ajmal, Amoj Jacob, Santhosh Tamilarasan and Rajesh Ramesh will represent India in the men's 4x400m relay race. Jyothika Sri Thandi, Subha Venkatesan, and MR Poovamma will compete in the women's category.
Mirabai Sanu will represent India in the women's weightlifting 49 kg category at the Paris Olympics. In Badminton Women's Singles, India's star player PV Sindhu enters the field with the intention of winning gold. 
HS Pranai and Lakshya Sen are in action in men's singles.
Arihant Pangal, Vinesh Phogat, Anshu Malik, Ritika Hooda and Nisha Dahiya from India will compete in women's wrestling. 
In the men's category, Aman Sehrawat is the only Indian representative in the 57 kg freestyle category.
Indian men's hockey team is placed in 'B' category.
Nethra Kumanan from Chennai has qualified to compete in the sailing competition. Subha Venkatesan has qualified for the 4000m relay. Vidya Ramraj will compete in the 400m relay event.
Apart from them, Thoothukudi's Jeswin Aldrin in long jump, Trichy's Rajesh Ramesh in men's relay, Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan in relay race, Trichy's Prithiviraj Thondaiman in shooting, Praveen Chithiravel, who has qualified for the Olympics for the first time in triple jump, and tennis' experienced Rogan Bopanna in men's doubles. 
13 people including N.Sreeram Balaji from Tamil Nadu are participating in the Olympics.
The competition has begun. Prime Minister Modi congratulated the Indian Olympic athletes. The central government has spent Rs. 470 crores for the Paris Olympics. As a result, India is waiting with the hope that they will win medals in bunches.
