Paris Paralymipcs bronze winner T. Mariyappan honoured by Salem Collector

Renowned Indian Paralympic athlete T.Mariyappan, from Periyavadakampatti in the Kadaiyampatti Taluk of Salem District, was honoured on Thursday by Dr. R. Brindha Devi, Salem District Collector, for his remarkable achievement at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. Mariyappan secured a bronze medal in the high jump event, representing India.
The 2024 edition of the Paralympic Games recently concluded in Paris, where Mariyappan once again made the country proud by clinching a podium finish. 
This victory adds to his illustrious track record, which includes a gold medal from the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics and silver from the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
In a ceremony held in Theevattipatti, Kadaiyampatti Taluk, the District Collector presented Mariyappan with a bouquet and congratulated him on his continued success in the high jump discipline. This marks the third consecutive Paralympic medal for Mariyappan, a testament to his consistent excellence on the world 
stage.
The event was attended by several officials, including Mrs. N. Ponmani, Mettur Sub-Collector, Ms. Aakriti Shetty, Assistant Collector (Trainee), and Salem District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer Mr. S. Sivarajan.
