Thousands of differently-abled individuals from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka are set to participate in a free artificial limb fitment camp organised by Narayan Seva Sansthan.
This organisation, based in Udaipur, Rajasthan, operates not only in India but also in African countries, conducting free camps to fit artificial limbs and arms for the differently abled.
In April, the first phase of the measurement camp for setting up artificial limbs was held in Coimbatore district.
The second phase, which involves fitting the limbs to the beneficiaries, will take place on August 4.
A press conference was held at a private hotel in RS Puram, Coimbatore, where Bhagwan Prasad Kaur, the media and public relations director of Narayan Seva Sansthan, addressed the media.
He stated, “More than 1,000 patients attended the initial camp. Out of these, 638 individuals, who had lost their limbs due to road accidents or other incidents, were selected for the Narayan Limb fitting.”
The measurements taken in April will now be used to provide the Narayan Limb to over 638 disabled individuals in Coimbatore, giving them a new lease on life.
Kaur emphasised that many of these individuals had become burdens on their families due to their disabilities, and the institute aims to make them self-reliant and integrate them into mainstream society.
During the discussion, spokesperson Gaur, Maheshwari Bhavan Secretary Santhosh Mundada, Patron and Social Worker Jamal Kishore Agarwal, Bangalore Ashram in-charge Khubi Lal Menaria, and Camp in-charge Hariprasad Laddha released the poster for the upcoming fitting camp.
